Lil' Tips for Not Being Robbed

If you're reading this, you've probably been robbed... and are probably annoyed because you have to pay for repairs all the time. Additionally, you make less money on properties until they are repaired, which is no fun either.

I am NOT a whiz here, just sharing my experiences. Here are the lil' tips for not being robbed again and again :

1. Your mafia size should be at least the equivalent of your level.
Unlike defending fights, the amount of mafia members that can "help out" is equal to your level. So, if you don't want to get robbed and are level 70, you should have at least 70 people in your mafia. By having less mafia members then your level, you become a big target.

2. Make sure your mafia is well equipped.
Mafia members are only as strong as the weapons and armor you give them. Make sure every mafia member has a decent weapon, armor, and vehicle to use. Some clans feed their mafia family very well, so they are really strong and can't be robbed!

3. Level Up!
I'm not talking about leveling up to put more points in defense or get more mafia members. Getting out of the low levels early is important for property health - players at higher levels do not rob as often, if at all. Why? Because it is not worth the stamina. Fighting yields more experience and has a chance to drop the best weapons (TNT), vehicles (Humvees), and job items (like Blackmail Photos) that the high level players need.

The $ 650,000-750,000 that is standard for robbing a casino pales in comparison to the amount of cash the "Boss" jobs produce. High level players do jobs for money rather than rob. On that note, if you are power leveling, you may find it hard to keep your mafia size equal to your level. The solution is simple - if you can't keep your mafia size equal to your level, just don't buy property (aside from Mafia Mike's) until you are around level 150. Players around level 20-80 rob much more frequently then high level players.

4. Don't rob other players. It's a big No No!

As noted in point #3, high level players do not like to rob. The only reason to rob is to get revenge for their low level buddies. So, if you don't piss anyone off (i.e. by robbing them), you are much less likely to get robbed in return.

5. Win a lot of fights.
In Mafia Wars, the best defense is a good offense. When robbing someone, you can only see a few statistics - number of mafia members, whether the property is protected. Since a player can't actually see your defense rating, a high level of defense does little to deter attacks. What they can see however, is your win to loss ratio on fights. I know I'm a lot less likely to try to fight or rob someone that has won 10,000 fights and only lost 1,000! However, when I see someone who has lost many more fights then they have won, I know it's an easy target. Hahahaha

6. Don't put people on the hitlist.
If you WANT to get robbed, be sure to put someone on the hitlist! Not only will the person you put a hit out on rob you repeatedly, but so will his friends. Additionally, when someone posts a hit, their name is shown on the hitlist as well. Some bored higher level players get entertainment out of robbing and attacking people who put out hits rather than attacking for the reward money! Avoid putting your name out there and you won't get robbed (or attacked) as much.

7. Protect your property.
Protecting your property is not as expensive as you might think - it only needs to be done once if you never get robbed! If you followed steps 1-5 and protect your property, the your odds of getting robbed are slim-to-none. If you never have to pay for repairs, you'll save a lot of money!

Summary

If you are getting robbed constantly in this game, just add more people to your mafia, win a lot of fights (if your attack rating is low find a whipping boy), don't rob other players, don't put out hits, and protect your property. If all else fails, level to 150 as fast as you can- people at that level don't rob as much. Do this and I guarantee you your robbery rates will go way down!

As for me, I don't like being robbed. Sometimes mafias don't need any reason to rob others. So after I obtain my achievement by selling 50 Mega Casinos, I just sell all of them and satisfy by owning lots of Mafia Mike's. You can't rob me! Image hosted by servimg.com

Here's a good way to ensure you don't get robbed. When you are finished playing Mafia Wars, make sure you fly over to Cuba and let your character sit then when you close out your session. Players are unable to rob you in NY when you are over in Cuba. What that means is that you can get attacked and lose your Cuba money so it's probably a good idea to bank your Cuba money if you're afraid of losing it when getting attacked.

I'm at level 328 with my mafia at only 42 and I haven't been robbed once in the past month! It's a great way to make your money grow towards the trillion dollar achievements.

Wow!!!
A very great tip from our "Anonymous" friend hehe.. (please just tell us your name at the end of your comment).

I haven't know about this yet, thank you, my friend. Really appreciate your feedback! ^_^

That's all good unless you have a person, like I have now, who is targeting me for no reason and has saved my Mafia Wars profile; thus he can get to my profile and kill and rob me at will. My only real way to fight back is to stock better weapons, armor, and vehicles for "my mafia" to use when he hits me. Right now he seems to be able to best me at will.

Hopefully he'll just get bored, but I'm thinking that he has accumulated a "whipping boy" list and when he gets on he makes his rounds.

I'm on his list, and thus we makes sure to hit me multiple times a day.

I have a plan to quit 'leveling' for awhile and use Cuba to accumulate hard-hitting weapons, armor, and vehicles. Money in Cuba doesn't come as easy, but I'm on my way to maxing out the businesses and using that $$$ to acquire the key items for the specific jobs that drop the best items I need to stockpile so this chump will start losing to me when he hits & robs my ass.

If I can get the upper hand, his ass is grass. I'll woop up on him so he gets the point, then I'll gladly forget about him and go back to leveling.

Too bad for you!
Yes, you better get your mafia to 501 members and start collecting best defense weapons, armors and vehicles.
You still can play by keeping your health below 20. So they can't attack you.
For your properties, do not repair it til he's gone.
That's all I can advice you :)

I'm over 501 now, but he's still coming.

As far as waiting for my properties to go down ... well, let's just say that I had gone a really long time w/o anyone really messing w/ them and now I have them so bulked up that it would take him all day hitting them to deplete them. After waiting for him to do that I'd have to spend a HUGE amount of money to get them back up and protect them.

He doesn't seem to have the will to deplete them all and probably only hit them because I got ticked and put him on the hitlist (a mistake).

As far as keeping my health below 20 ... when it replenishes and I'm away from the game there's no much I can do. You can't do anything to keep your health from replenishing is there?

He pretty much has my "number" and all I can do is keep bulking up on best defense weapons, armors and vehicles right now.

I'm investing quite a lot of time and energy into Camo Armor, while I'm also bulking up my businesses so I'll be earning the money I need to purchases the components I need to do the upper Cuban jobs and be able to acquire the loot items such as TNT and guerrilla armies.

I'm hoping I can stockpile as much of that as possible so "my mafia" is armed to the teeth and has a better chance of warding this mofo off.

I'll know the stratedy has worked when one of these times when he hits me and it finally says that he lost.

Looking forward to that!

As a note, level up and put as much into Attack and Defense as you can this builds your strength far quicker than accumulating the weapons, as long as you are kitted with the best weapons you can buy, overall higher impact weapons only make a small difference. Also depending on level you can only use that number of mafia so makes no difference if you have 501 mafia on level 150 say.

On Att/Def stats l believe the combat calculator is

Square root of (Att Stats + Defence Stats * Mafia size) plus best weapon strength for either defense or attack.

Not combined strength of weapons as suggested elsewhere. I have summised this by looging all my weapons and applying to the calculator and comparing to MW new fight screen which gives you your attack and defense strength.

Example 1 A - 100 D - 100 mafia -150 defense strength weapons 8000. Defense strength 195

Ezample 2 A - 100 D - 100 mafia - 150 defense strenth weapons 16000. Defense strength 214

Example 3 A - 125 D - 125 mafia - 150 defense strength weapons 8000. Defense strength 213

You can see that by levelling 10 times ie 50 stat points gives same effect as doubling weapon strength. Leveling is easier than weapon stockpile.

Other option is copy his profile and get one of your 501 to rob him blind and close him down.

He seems to have grown tired of hitting me for now. Maybe he's on vacation or something.

I figure he'll be back soon enough.

Thanks for the tips.

I curious about the leveling. If I put much of anything into Attack & Defense, then it makes leveling slower than putting it all into energy.

If I put as much as possible into energy and just keep leveling like a madman, would that be good?

Sounds like the best thing to do is to get to level 501, have 501 mafia, and have 501 great attack and defense weapons, armor, and vehicles for each mafia member.

Guess I'll put accumulating weapons on the back burner and put the pedal to the metal on leveling again so each one of my 501 mafia members will be used once I reach level 501.

I'm guessing that this will be even that much more important once they open up Russia to us in September.

"Also depending on level you can only use that number of mafia so makes no difference if you have 501 mafia on level 150 say."

Sorry to mislead this should have also included "when property is being robbed", normal fight attack you use all your mafia.

Great job anynomous :D
I guess it's depend on our mafia style..
Someone love to fight and put lots of skill point on ATT/DEF.
Someone love to do levelling and collecting loots and put all to energy.
Also the other love robbing and fighting, put lots to stamina.

Its your choice then.. its your game! Have fun with it... ^^y

I am curious to know if the level each member of your mafia is has any weight to the fight stats, i.e. does a level 500 add more fight power than say a level 100?

I don't think it's that big of a mistake to HL someone who's harassing you like that, you just should not stop after one time. You should bookmark HIM and put him back on it every time he heals before he has a chance to attack. What more is he going to be able to do if he's already harassing you constantly anyway?

A couple of notes for you guys, Your attack and defense points are not as important as you might think. Keep your mafia numbers up, arm yourself to the teeth and don't be afraid to ask for higher level weapons from you upper level mafia. Put lot's into your stamina. The truth is. usually when you fight you get between 2 and 6 experience points for one stamina. Your energy usually only produces 1.5 to 1.8 experience points on jobs. The loot is better in fights and you build up your attack and defense index much quicker this way. It is more work but worth it. Good luck

If you close out of the game under level 20, and come back an hour later and your health is over 20 can they attack you if you are not signed on?

What is the latest now that robbing is coming back?

Unknown said... [Reply to comment]
