Well seems like everybody now are busy collecting these special loots.. And yes, same way like the 4th July and also Russian loots. It's random, can be obtain by doing jobs, fighting and robbing.
I did the Mugging jobs and get all loots there.. be quick, guys.. You have experienced that the other day the loots will become harder to find.

I didn't get special or exclusive item by finding these all only have bragging rights (and you better hit the SKIP button). The item that sticks out the most right away is "Dillinger's Wooden Gun" piece. It has 42 defense which is way higher than the Gaff Hook. Hope you find all items, mafias!!!

The Dillinger's Wooden Gun is the only one worth anything.
Took me 300 energy to get the first 7 and then took me 2000 to get the wooden gun
Dunno if this helps but I got a Pretty Boy Floyd's .45 by fighting a level 10...

i just got my 3rd wooden gun and 1st capone car, but i can't seem to get the bonnie and clyde b-400
I've gotten every item today except for the wooden gun. I got them by doing a variety of things - fighting in Cuba and NY, robbing and jobs. I did the only mugging job I could find under "street thug" over and over and got an item twice that way - I would imagine I've wasted more than 100 energy on that mugging job but find that just playing normally is more satisfying and I am getting multiples of things by playing normally. I never got the car from the Russian loot and I figure the wooden gun will probably never come my way too :(

I got all 8 items from the Mugging job on the Street Thug tier.
Yea almost all of my items came from mugging, have spent probably 1000 energy and have multiples of everything except the two cars of which i have only one each. But still two days left to cash in.
I'm not having much luck with anything besides Baby Face Nelson's .351, Machine Gun Kelly's Gun, and Pretty Boy Floyd's .45. I have about 15 of each of them but haven't even seen any of the other drops which is quite depressing.
Got 6/8, miss Al Capone's carand Ma Bakeer's Gun. Got all, some multiple, only by fighting in NY/Cuba

i used all my energy on high level jobs b/c i thought it'd give a better chance but i guess not. the mugging plan didnt help me get the impression, so i didnt bother to try it this time. but it turns out i was wrong, so im waiting for energy right now to blow it all on mugging. cant wait to get them all :DDDD

No tip actually.. all I do is Mugging job, again and again.. and I have it all on my accounts hehe :D
All I know is I've had absolutely no luck with either of the vehicles and the wooden gun.
But outside of that I have plenty of everything else 10 Pretty Boy Floyd's .45, 5 Ma Barker's Machine Gun, 8 Baby Face Nelson's .351, 1 Ness' Fedora.
I just want to at least see one of the darn vehicles. lol!
I've been collecting since about the first minute and have multiples of everything *except* the two cars and the wooden gun. Can't seem to find any rhyme or reason to it, I finally went back to my normal game play but I found a few of them on loot drop jobs like 'Rob an Electronics Store' figured I could get them and something else good as well, instead of blowing hundreds of reward points on just random jobs.
I still need the Capone and the Ma Barker. I have 2 Dillingers, though, so I am content if that is all I get. That 42 defense is amazing!
I have all but the Capone and Dillinger guns.
I'm hoping I have enough energy to get both before the event ends.

Finally got the "wooden gun" this morning, first loot special collection achieved. Thought the "wooden gun" was going to be my "impression" all over again. Most looted through fighting.

i've had 7/8 on saturday (1300energy), but didn't find anything since? :s I've already spend an other 1000 energy without a thing..

I'm not quite sure. In all honesty I'm beginning to wonder if Zynga stopped it by mistake.
I haven't gotten any drops either, on any of my accounts, for close to 8 hours now.
I'm beginning to think either the event was stopped or they slowed down the drop rate to a ridiculous pace.

The notice said the event ended at midnight on the 7th, so I think it was over Sunday 12:00 am PDT. My last item was the Capone armored car and I got it quite unexpectedly, and just as I was about to forget the whole thing and go to bed. It seemed very random about the drops, I got all of mine through doing jobs, never more than one or two in a certain 'tier' or location, either NY or Cuba. Any word on when they're going to start up the Moscow section of the game? After all the hype last week about getting Russian items, I figured they'd start it soon!

I've gone through about 600 energy so far today with no drops. I'm thinking the event is over.
Loot probability seems coorelated to the power/level ratio. The math might be Offensive power+Defensive power/player level.
Still seeing drops... Only in NY, it seems.
The home page now states the loot drop is extended until Tuesday at Midnight Pacific time.
Mugging seems impossible to get these drops from my end. Spent 50 energy and found nothin' Did zynga do something with the drop ratio? It has become very frustrating these past two days... can somebody confirm my observations are also happening somewhere else out there?

I've pretty much given up on getting the rest of the drops.. it just doesn't seem worth it.

You didn't even bothered to add there the word "probability." your term "Random" doesn't make sense in the game until it has "probability" @$$! with Random Probability, what i said back there makes sense, even to you - whoever you are!
skipper... okay. I'll bite. According to your earlier post, it's "impossible" to get the loot from mugging. Now, according to probability theory... something that is impossible has a probability of occurence of 0% (or 0.00 if you prefer proportions). Since I've gotten the loot from mugging, as have several others, then your proposition that it's impossible to get the loot from mugging is... um... well... wrong. Perhaps you meant "improbable".
If you only tried mugging 50 times and conclude that it's impossible to get the loot from mugging... well... I can't be held accountable for your failure to understand probability.
Anyway... I've got more mugging to do, and more loot to collect.

It doesn't matter where you do the job or which job you do... "mugging" gives you opportunity to do as many jobs as possible to collect the loot. It is a numbers game.

My my my... someone's a little testy. Just trying to save you time and energy on figuring out patterns where none exist, Skipper. I'm not full of myself. I am quite probably full of human excrement, though I'd need a scope to know for sure.
One thing I am full of? Labor Day Loot. At least one of each of 8 itmes. 27 pieces in total and counting. All from mugging. Best of luck with your quest.
Took me 550+ fights and a few levels to accumulate all 8 swag. The tough one to find for me was the 341A. Just got that.
I was sort of amazed there was no bonus item. Like a low yield nuke or something. Scratching my head...
Woot! Finally got all 8 items.
Here I was beginning to think I wasn't going to get any of them at all.
I got Capone's car and finally.. my wooden gun.. after the last 200+ times of mugging.
Phew.. what a relief.
