The New "Business" System In New York

Welcome! Hello all,

First of all, thank you to Giridhar who tell me about this. I got all this info from Zynga forum and from one of my mafia's wall. I simply copy-paste this.. Enjoy the post!

NOTICE: You do NOT get this system later, if you don't already have it, you will NOT get it later. This is a new system forced upon new players.

To start off, let me explain it to those who haven't heard of it yet...
Basically it's the new property system that Zynga rolled out in a horrible way, and was in no way controlled to get feedback from. Anyway it works like this.

Instead of "Properties" the tab says "Business". When you go there you get this :

Now then, you notice I can now collect my "Take" and now get this :

From there, I can either do it again, or choose a new one. I'm choosing a new one...

Now you notice I have a few options, all of them "Ready in X hours" and if you notice, the one ready in 4 hours of course has the most payout per hour... so I'll do that one.

So now I spent 5 influence points to set it up. And to answer your question about influence points, they are the new stat that allows you to start these businesses, nothing more or less. Because of this, players that get this new system, gain 6 stat points per level. Each influence point costs 1 stat point.

Next, you might have noticed that I have "Hell's Kitchen" and I can buy a new Business.
You start out with 3 businesses and from there you can buy more, each of course costing more and more. There is no difference between Little Italy, and Hell's Kitchen though. They both have the same businesses.

Last but not least, because of this new system there is NO upkeep for any item.

Now then, after explaining that, I wanna say that overall, I like this new system. Good one, huh?
It stops people from sitting there and gaining trillions of dollars and doing nothing. Now you have to keep coming back, starting a new business and collecting it later, then doing it again, and keeping your Influence up.
The problem I see with this is that it wasn't put out properly, and Zynga is going to get little to none in feedback over this...
They also made the "Cash Out" achievement impossible to get for these people.

So I say it's a nice system, but it was rushed. It could have had a HUGE opportunity, and probably been an amazing new update, but it was rushed and will probably be scrapped.

What does everyone else think? Friends forever!

PS : Credit goes to Sythe!

Ha ha! First time i got some info before you. But you rock as always. Glad i could help.

They get a extra skill point for Influence Skill. Which may prove costly on long run...as they are more likely to be stronger as they level up more

Thank you, Giridhar..

I really wanna experience this new feature, but I hate to start from the beginning 0_o
Hope Zynga will apply this to every player soon.

And 6 skill points is a very nice one.. :D
Thanks for the sharing, Giridhar.. You have a good one! ^_*

now i'm lvl 200+ with only about 2 million cash lol, no payout from jobs and this new bussines only give little amount of money

if this is a new feature for new players, its pretty nice with the 6 stat point.. but if this is going to be a feature for all the players.. what will happen to all the properties that you saved up money to buy? all those casinos? those didn't come cheap and it took a lot of hours, days even months just to save up all those dollars just to buy 50 casinos... if this feature will make all those properties useless.. then it sucks!!! if its a new feature that will be added to the old players without taking away all the casinos.. then its really really cool!!!

they should have left the NY system the way it was - and gave this system to russia...

One thing that i want to know... What's the advantage to be a Mogul. My character is a Mogul (ok, i'm disapointed with my earlier noob choice), and i think this new system put the Mogul
completely useless (like a Mogul in Cuba business).

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

What makes this worse is that there are no more payouts for jobs.

Of course they won't offer it to existing members - most people have already invested billions of dollars into setting up properties. Zynga couldn't just take that away from everyone, it'd cause a riot. I agree that the best way to implement it was to do what they did and apply it to new accounts, but disagree that they are further widening the gap between older and newer players. It's really starting to feel like there isn't a level playing field anymore...

My wife has an "old" player account and I recently started under this system. I can tell you that it makes acquiring cash to purchase weapons required to do more jobs extremely difficult. At level 17 I still can't even afford a Tommy Gun. Have had no choice but to keep doing Street Thug jobs.

I started on Friday night playing Mafia Wars for the first time and it took me forever to startup to get cash, but now I'm at lvl 51 and 93Million in cash. I was going nuts over this new system, which I did not know of until I read this post. I was looknig and looking why I didn't have properties as I've seen in all the guides and tips I've read all over the place. Thanks for the info.

Getting cash in Cuba is all but impossible. It is going to take weeks to even make a dent in Cuba now that there is no money from any jobs.

Bad, bad, bad move Zynga.

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

Good news.

Zynga now lets you receive cash for completing jobs with this new model. I should be able to wrap up New York today and Cuba within a week or two depending on how quickly I earn Politicos..

I have a regular account and a new account and this new system SUCKS beyond belief! Infact I gave up on it - not only does it take FOREVER to make enough money to buy weapons to do jobs but the piddly income from the shakedowns isnt guaranteed either - if you log on an hour late you lose all your income and have to start over. And the income isnt like the property income in the old version - you only make a measley 1300 for each 4 hr shakedown. I decided to give up on it and if i can get more money for more weapons do the million dollar jobs instead. But what good is all that money when there are no properties to buy??? doesnt make sense and frankly SUCKS BIG TIME!

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

I totally agree... i joined this mafia wars because i was interested in buying properties and stuff but now, all the enthusiasm and energy are gone...POOOF! THANKS A LOT ZYNGA! PFFT!!!

Francesca said... [Reply to comment]

How I get Influence from mafia wars? How? Thank you!! I joined this mafia wars but I love it for daily player.. :)

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

and to make matters worse, it will take forever to get the golden nest, let alone the 999T. pfffttt

what happens if they decide to get rid of this horrible system? to those of us who have it set up with "Rackets" to shake down instead of "Businesses" to buy?

I'd much rather buy properties as well, and was extremely pissed when I signed up only to find this option. I hope they change it, and I hope they give us with new account the option to buy properties.

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

once you "Master" the first set of jobs you can do other jobs that give you more money back. The 24 hour job gives 900,000. Of course it takes more influence to shake down. there is a 3rd row of jobs that i haven't gotten to yet, but i am assuming that they will return more then the 2nd row of jobs, but again will cost more influence most likely.

i am very close to accumulating enough influence that i will be bringing in a lot of cash soon. i am a level 23 so maybe this took longer then it would have if i had property's instead but so far i like the system now that i know the 2nd row and possibly the 3rd row is bringing me in more keyash!!

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

I don't like the Rackets at all its like farmville as each racket has a different time frame to comeback and collect on just like farmville crops I already lost out on 5 business going bust and getting no income and losing the influence I put into them it really is no good.

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

What I really don't like is the imbalance. Every player has a system they aren't allowed to use! If Zynga thought the old system was bad for old players to pile up immense amounts of cash, this system doesn't solve that as many many players are still on the old system.

I also don't like how the new system isn't very deep. Shake down or don't. It'd be better if there were items or other ways to protect your rackets if the player chose that.

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

Your all a bunch of little bitches. Use the extra skill point advantage and you will be much better equipped down the road.

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

This is really a bizarre way of doing things in an MMORPG..now there will be two tiers of people, those on the new system and old. Very strange. I started playing just a day or two before the switch..

The thing is this. What the hell use is money? I really don't understand it. I have a few dozen of each building, and other than getting the achievement, what the hell good does another billion do? Or a billion vs. a trillion?

If you can't buy a freakin cell phone, what's the damn point! Where's mafiawars.craigslist.org!?!?!?

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

They should have saved it for Moscow, instead of just bringing over the boring Cuba business system.

On second thought, rackets are a really dirty trick on Zynga's part. The whole point is to make you check your FB account 20 times a day. Fuck you guys, I have a life and I'm not glued to the computer 24/7.

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

I started playing a few weeks before this new rackets I like the game but if they change it over to rackets for everyone I will deleted my account

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

This new systems sucks poo covered arse. I have 2 accounts 1 with properties and the other with this new and not improved business system. Needs to go back to the proven method and have everyone on the same playing field. What a load of crap Zynga!!!

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

Wow this is rubbish and mine is slightly different to yours. Instead of business mine says rackets and im also only getting 5 stat pints per level! so ive got the double whammy the shit system and not getting the extra point to make up for it!

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

I have spent heaps on purchasing gold tokens for all the crappy items that I find don't help at all, and now the game sucks, taken away robbing, takes all the incentive away and today for the first time it says you are only allowed to help out with 25 jobs per day. I am really starting to dislike this game, so as soon as my 500 gold tokens are finished I know I won't be buying any more, next step stop playing for good. Zynga really screwed the game up in my opinion, why didn't they just leave it the way it was? Wankers

Unknown said... [Reply to comment]

I have never played under the old system but I've been playing for 14 days..lvl 50 and have 1.2 billion in the bank. It is slow going at first but if you constantly do the 3 card monte and master it, the takes jumps from 3300 to over 300000 per take..then master that it jumps to 30 mil per take....

Now the real question is, what do I do with all the money?

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

I,m using this system & at level 25. However the timer takes 60 mins for 1 influence point to generate therefore making it impractical to have more than 24!
How do I get the timer to speed up?

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

My son has the NEW system and loves it. You start with Little Italy, then buy into Hells kitchen , Bensonhurst and the Upper East Side. You do have to BABYSIT it though, if not the "racket" gets "BUSTED" and you loose everything you put into it. But, since he has no property (casinos, marinas, etc...) to buy; he has a few billion in the bank! He has done Moscow and Cuba in a VERY short time. (it didn't hurt that I "beefed" him up with weapons)

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

OK so im on the rackets system and i think it is really good. If you can stand to master the piddly shakedowns the new ones really make you some cash. Im making 110,000,000 for one one day shakedown. I have a billion dollars in the bank and nothing to spend it on. The bad part about this game is the lack of Inventory you can buy. Im a level 43 and i can still only buy a chain gun. That is ridiculous!

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

when I finish at 100% it not show in properties why is that?

fuki44 said... [Reply to comment]

when you have this system you wouldnt be rich but when you are lvl 30+ you can run boost rackets and it makes boosts like:+65attack skill +65defense skill or robbing skill.

noveno colono said... [Reply to comment]

i make a sub-account about 20 days ago and i didn't got that, i got the usual properties tab
what happened?

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

I think the Mafia wars sorta picks and chooses as to which one is gonna get the "Rackets or Properties Tab" kinda like a blind beta test?

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

Just been with the Mafia Wars family a few days and really enjoying it - was very confused as to why I couldn't build any property and had the silly shake downs to watch ... but from reading this blog my understanding has somewhat increased.

Must be honest though - something inside me likes the idea of owning stuff ... not just putting money in and waiting a few hours to getting it back!

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

Hey guys, I respect all your views about the new system, but personally, I think it rocks. Yes, I agree at the starting the rewards are kinda pathatic, but after u move into the higher tier of rackets, you get ALOT more. Plus, what good of money is in the bank when all u get is achievements? With the rackets system, you can get LOTS of boost, and even those that allow you to reduce the experience needed when doing jobs. I'm level 98 using this new system, and i've reached 100% in all the rackets. Now I can just do like 20 rackets that gives me Hollow Points(+100attack strength for a single battle). Plus each racket gives me 4 of it. So just count, 20 x 4 = 80! I would have gotten 80 hollow points the next day and it just keeps going on!

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

im using the old system and by the looks of it i see people have mixed reviews, however ive been using the old system for 5months now and just used the new system the other day and the clear difference was that in the old system you make money much faster and hardley do anything where as the new system makes money at a slow rate and takes ages to buy weapons, so on comparison i would choose the old system over the new system any day.

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

I'm also pretty tired of "rackets", I can't get Slum Lord and Cashing Out!! :(

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

For a start I am a new player, and did not and still dont get the extra point. As for taking ages to build money such is life. My main gripe is I am now in billions, but naff all to spend it on! Inventory stopped and have no more added since level 100, I am now at level 180. Now that sucks cause dont know how I can now build a strong Mafia

-----YES ME TOO!!!! I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE!!!! THIS IS BULL!!!! IM NOW LEVEL 365 AND WONDERING SHOULD I JUST START ALL OVER BECAUSE I HAVE STUPID RACKETS AND I DONT GET 6 POINTS I JUST GET 5!! ONLY THING GOOD I CAN THINK OF IS NO UPKEEP.... BUT WHATS THAT MATTER I DONT HAVE MUCH COMING IN EITHER. JUST A GAZILLION DOLLARS SITTING IN THE BANK IN NEW YORK AND NOTHING I CAN BUY WITH IT!! PLUS I WILL NEVER GET ALL 50 ACHIEVEMENTS!

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

Iv got rackets, i got my friend playing and he had properties, have they re-introduced it?. So i started up a new facebook just for mafia wars ( Yeh i like it that much ;) ) and as myt friend this one had properties. Is this happening to all players now? Becuase i want my main one to have properties, im want to be able to get all the achievments on thats one.

I'm not aware of this system, I haven't been a part of it - I only saw the "Influence" counter and Googled it - but it seems borrowed from another Zynga game, Rollercoaster Kingdom. As I understand it, in that game, you book a bus to come to your rollercoaster and it arrives at a certain time, giving you customers and hence money, but it costs money to get the bus or whatever in the first place. It works with that game, but I don't understand the relevance to this one.

Good luck to all the new players. I hope you don't get stuck with this rubbish for long.

I'm level 335 mogul, and really hate the business system they forced on us. I've been planning for quite a while to get the trillion-dollar achievement, but now I think I just quit the game. After playing for way too long, and clicking so #*&^$ many times, is Zygna really that hard-up for more clicks that they're going to screw their steady and long-standing customers? I'm out of here.
