Let's discuss it one by one.. 
First tip : if you find the mission while you're doing jobs and the game requested you to ask for help from your mafia, SKIP this process, please!
Why? Because the game will randomly places 4 mafias there! They might be still sleeping, not playing at that time, or just being idle, etc.. So no more spots left for your active mafias by the time you publish your mission..
Also, if you have sent the request above (like I did yesterday), your friends will be very late on respons! So really no use on sending request for help.
After you close the pop up above, you still can go to your Secret Mission by clicking on Mission tab below..
Now, it's time for you to "Ask for help" and your active mafia will see it on your wall and will quickly help you to fill all 4 positions!
Just wait and see.. and then claim your rewards!
Joseph was able to get 5 reward items yesterday (as a host), anybody got the same experience? Any screenshot, please?
Another tip is when you're helping your mafia on their mission.. If you see that another mafias are not active on helping the mission, you can contact the host of the mission and ask him to remove those non active mafia. Otherwise, your completed job is just a big waste and you will miss the chance to collect the reward.
Haider also asks from Zynga team to provide the X button on each Helper box, so Helpers may also remove themself from the mission. This case may happen if the Helper runs out of Energy and unable to finish the job.

it would be helpful if the host's name appeared somewhere so we'd know who to contact to delete laggers :)
