Bangkok : The History of Triad & Yakuza

While waiting for Bangkok to be released.. it's not bad to read a history about both factions. "Sunil" has sent me this article, taken by googling on the internet.. Thanks for the help, my friend! Domo....

THE TRIADS

Triad (simplified Chinese: 三合会; traditional Chinese: 三合會; pinyin: Sānhéhuì; literally "Triad Society") is a term that describes many branches of Chinese underground society and/or organizations based in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau, Malaysia and Mainland China, and also in Western countries and cities with significant Chinese populations such as New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Vancouver, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
Their activities include car theft, contract killing, drug trafficking, extortion, money laundering, gambling, prostitution, and other forms of racketeering. A major source of the triad's income today comes from the counterfeiting of copyrighted and trademarked goods such as clothing, coin counterfeiting, computer software, counterfeit money, handbags, music, CDs, watches and movie VCDs/DVDs. They also trade in endangered species as well as bootleg tobacco and alcohol products.

THE YAKUZA

Created in 1915, the Yamaguchi-gumi is the biggest yakuza family, 45% of all yakuza in Japan, with more than 45,000 members divided into 750 clans. Despite more than one decade of police repression, the Yamaguchi-gumi has continued to grow.
From its headquarters in Kobe, it directs criminal activities throughout Japan. It is also involved in operations in Asia and the United States. Shinobu Tsukasa, also known as Kenichi Shinoda, is the Yamaguchi-gumi's current oyabun. He follows an expansionist policy, and has increased operations in Tokyo (which has not traditionally been the territory of the Yamaguchi-gumi.)

When the Japanese invaded most major Chinese cities in World War Two, the Triads offered to work for them instead. In Hong Kong, the Triads ran criminal enterprises for the Japanese. The Japanese united the gangs under an association called the "Hing Ah Kee Kwan" (Asia Flourishing Organization). The gangsters were used to help police the residents of Hong Kong, and to suppress any anti-Japanese activity.

So, basically both factions has a mutually cooperation. I don't know what will Zynga team make on the game. I guess it's enough about this history.. One question that is bugging me this time?
"Which faction will you choose?"

Yakuza. You Know Why? Because Of GTA III ! If You Remember That Awesome Game, In That, Triads Were Fishermen, But Yakuzas Were High-Class Members And Professional Killers :D
This Is My Reason To Choose Yakuza. Beside That, I Like Them More Than Triads. I Don't Know Why, But I Just Like Them More And I Will Choose Yakuza :)

Anonymous said... [Reply to comment]

Hey guys, 1 doubt:

I have 60 GF points right now. Should I wait and spend them during holiday week?

Or should I spend 55 on the 2009 crates (There is more than half chance I will get a rare item and complete an achievement).

What do you recommended? I am level 320 with 250 mafia

DO NOT USE THEM FOR 2009 CRATES.

Save Them For Holiday Week And Buy Everything You Want With Ridiculous Price :)

I've bought 2009 crate and I got siberian tiger, tiger tank and lorica. I wonder what they gonna offer for that blowout sale, it's only a few weeks ago Black friday happened.
@ anonymous 1: in GTA san Andreas, the Triads are also professional mobs and the look cool with their sunglasses =D
But I think I'll take yakuza and my second acc the triads.
Maybe they took Thailand because of the loot Zynga could create. you got the tuk tuks, elephants, ... . And the story isn't that bad too if you imagine that both Yakuza and Triads are planning to conquer the underworld of Bangkok and they need you to help them or something like that. Maybe in real life it's not 100% true, but hey, ever saw a reeel mobster doing the same job for a few hunderd times??? xD

There is even another game called yakuza lords. Maybe I'll just wait for guide stuff once they release Bangkok 2010.

i love boobies and so do triads lol

To those asking why Bangkok, the reason is pretty simple.

The Triads are Chinese, the Yakuza are Japanese. Picking Bangkok (Thailand) is neutral South-east Asian ground that the two can fight over, and yet at the same time you would expect to have to work with one or the other because you are an outsider (New York Mafia). If it were Japan or China, then there would be one faction that was already heavily dominant. The decision is clearly a set up so that they can generate this kind of factional battleground. Simple as.

idk which one to choose??????????

I'm going to choose Yakuza first of all..... I'm assuming you will be able to change through the game as I am now able to play Bangkok and there is a monitor bar at the top of the home page and it has both Triads and Yakuza and it has a rating for both families, at the moment both are 50/1500 and it tells you which one is more neutral, hostile, suspicious, trusted etc., they are both the same at the very start of Bangkok I take it that this will change as the game goes on and you can make your mind up depending on their ratings??...... I hope!!!

Oh boy what a huge choice humm

Thailand is pretty much corrupted now with the red shirts and the yellow shirts debacle that has thorn the country apart... thailand is a neutral ground compared to hongkong, because chances are the traids would have more communications there, with that said, however this doesnt mean that the yakuza isn't better its just what the above dude said, neutral-ity in south east asia. Also The Russian Mobs control Pataya.... So there's really a 3sided faction turnout in thailand or a two way deathmatch in bangkok

if you look at the faction store and look at the weaponry skill levels...Yakuza has more attack skill and the triads have more defense skill...choose whether you want to be more offensive with attacks or defensive...

There are six levels of each faction. Hostile, Suspicions, Neutral, Trusted, Honored, and Allied. There are certain jobs you can do that you choose if you are supporting the Yakuza or the Triad. Which ever faction you pick by completing the job, you will get +3 for that faction and -1 for the other faction. After completing a job on a level you are locked into only being able to perform the job for the faction you selected. You will have at least I believe 8 separate jobs you can select which faction to support so do not get to hung up on which faction you wish to support. In the end you should probably get both factions up to 1500 before you complete Bangkok. By the way, one faction give you better defensive items where as the other faction gives you better attack items.

You start out with 50 of 1500 points for each faction. The faction store allows you to aquire items based on your level inside of a faction. Once you have 400 points for a faction you will be Neutral inside that faction. The first item you can acquire only requires the Neutral level. The other three items in the faction store become available at the Trusted level, Honored level, and finally the last item is available once you reach the Allied level. Although every time you advance a faction +3, you reduce the other faction -1. Once you complete a job level then you are locked into one of the factions FOR THAT JOB ONLY. Once you have completed that job for a level and are locked in you can continue to do the job adding (+3 to the faction you choose) and subtracting (-1 from the faction you did not choose) your points for each faction. Don't worry. There are two jobs per level that you get to select which faction you want to support. Simply select one faction for one of the jobs and the other faction for another job. This will allow you to eventually advance both faction levels to Allied eventually if you care to.

One word about the jobs for selecting a faction. The first job of each level required you to use a unteachable cell phone every time you complete that job. The second job of each level does not require the untraceable cell phone. So unless you have a ton of untraceable cell phones you may wish to keep repeating the second job and not the first job or else you will need to acquire untraceable cell phones.

I am sure there is lots more to this expansion but I am just a few days into it now. One thing I do not know is what happens if you cause one of the factions to go to 0 by supporting the other faction repeatedly? One more thing, the way you get money is again through taking over businesses and also jobs but the businesses pay better for now. Money is hard to come by in Bangkok so it may take a while to get started. I cheated by selling GF points. 10 points got me 50,000B. Something else, there is no fighting at least not yet so you should not need to bank your money.
