Ok, so I have tried it step by step since I have the new Inventory page..
Interesting glitch on the new inventory page I thought you'd be interested in. If you locate the railguns on your list and click the small gift icon next to it, it will bring up a page similar to sending a Mystery Bag. In fact it will appear you're actually doing so.
When you select your recipients and send, it will send everyone a railgun and not remove any from your inventory. They are then able to gift them back to you. So far, I've sent 70 out and received several back. This was still working as of today. Just thought you might find this interesting. Thanks.

Filter your Inventory like this to find Railgun (this is the quickest way I thought at that time)..
Ok, need a little effort to find the Railgun.. after you find it, click on the gift symbol below.
It doesn't take you to Gifting page to send your stock of Railguns, but it takes you to Mystery Bag page.. It seems that you're sending Railgun as Mystery Bag items to your friends and doesn't reduce your stock.
So I send one to my sub account to proof it, and it works!

I have tried with another items, for example one from Mission HELs ie Grim Reaper, it doesn't work.. Also with Mugati Sport, etc..
So I think it's only work for Railgun.
Care to try?

Nice catch. It's not only railgun can do that, but the rest available loot is useless for advanced player, except material for upgrade maybe..
151 = Mystery Animal
153 = Club Owner
181 = Hammer
200 = Fail of Knuckles
209 = Railgun
211 = Engine
only 151-211 available

I'm able to do it with Limited items such as Holiday scarf, ice skates, mistletoe launcher, candy cane, parade balloon .. you get the picture. It works with all the LE items that came from the yellow star mission rewards. And won't count against your current inventory of that item.
Glitch??? WTF?
